MY BIO

After a 25-year career at Cleveland-Cliffs, native Clevelander Mike Knirnschild joins BDS as a Client Services Associate directly supporting Smita Samant. At Cliffs, Mike performed a variety of accounting, finance, and technology roles, including a 2-year expat assignment to Perth, Australia. He recently passed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP^®) board exam and is now working towards certification. Mike has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently preparing to take the FINRA Series 7 General Securities Representative Exam. Mike is an active-duty veteran who, for eight years, served as a Naval Flight Officer in the E-2C Hawkeye aircraft. He has been married to Judy for over thirty years and has two adult children, Jacqueline & Mitchell and one daughter-in-law, Jenna. Although Mike and his family have lived in many places due to the Navy and his career at Cliffs, he considers Brunswick, Ohio home since he has lived there for the past 13 years. In his spare time Mike enjoys CrossFit, kayaking, travel, and watching the Cleveland Browns.
